CBP BULK CASH SEIZURE AT CALEXICO-MEXICALI FRONTIER
Cash couriers continue to move criminal profits into Mexico, keeping US law enforcement busy interdicting it on almost a daily basis. CBP and the Imperial Valley Border Enforcement Security Task Force seized $654,900 at the Calexico Downtown Port of Entry, taken from a southbound Toyota Tacoma. The driver, Alvaro Astorga-Ramirez,a Mexican national, was taken into custody and charged with bulk cash smuggling.

The currency, contained ion 24 wrapped packages, was concealed in the vehicle's spare tire.
